Work Experience Available
During the period of enrolment, students are able to complete a week of work experience
in a travel field of their choice and are also able to experience other facets of
the industry while on their semester breaks. Particular care is taken in matching
specific students and placements to ensure that they will fit into that particular
company’s culture and also that they have the skills required to succeed.
To qualify for work experience work experience students must demonstrate excellent
attendance and commitment to their studies, a ‘can do attitude’ and the motivation
to succeed. These are also what the employers are seeking. Due to the calibre of
NZSTT students many are offered full time employment assistance resulting from their
placement.
Job Placements
As New Zealand’s premier Travel and Tourism provider, The New Zealand School of
Travel and Tourism has over ten years experience in facilitating quality work experience
placements for students.
NZSTT students have gone on to
work for airlines such as Air New Zealand.
During the year Industry Guest Speakers are regularly invited to talk to the students
about their occupation and the Company they work for. This gives the student an
overview of the full spectrum of employment opportunities available within the industry.
It is also a valuable opportunity to network with potential employers.
Employment opportunities within the industry are displayed on noticeboards within
the school along with the specifics of the skills and attributes required. Careers
Advisory staff are on hand to counsel students as to the positions which would best
suit their particular skill set and to assist them with the application and interview
preparation.
