Our People - The New Zealand School of Travel & Tourism

When people are asked about their education they rarely speak of specific topics, books or exercises. Instead they mention the one or two tutors that inspired their studies and brought the subject matter to life through their direct experiences.

NZSTT is staffed with some of the best, most knowledgeable tutors in New Zealand. Their deep understanding and experience of travel and tourism has been gained over many years by working with leading companies in a wide range of important sectors including air travel, hospitality, travel consulting, computer reservation systems, tour guiding, and international banking. In fact, some of the tutors have spent up to 25 years working for major organisations such as Air New Zealand, Qantas, and British Airways.

The following are a few of the many excellent tutors that students can look forward to working with at NZSTT.

David Roberton joined NZSTT in November 2002 after nearly 30 years in the Travel and Tourism Industry. During this time he spent 25 years with Air New Zealand involved in setting up of BSP, airport operations, corporate and retail travel. David has also worked with retail and corporate travel agencies plus two years teaching prior to joining NZSTT.

Osmitta Francis has worked for almost ten years in the airline industry (British Airways and Qantas) involving sales and ticketing. Osmitta migrated to New Zealand with her family and began teaching Diploma-level programs with NZSTT as a way of sharing what she has learned.

Instructors lead double lives
Many of NZSTT instructors also work part-time in the industry as travel consultants, travel destination writers, and business advisors. This helps ensure that students receive relevant and up-to-date training.
